Quadrant Engineering Plastic Products Assigns Production of Acetron® GP and Nylon 101 Hex/Square Rods to Atlas Fibre Company
READING, PA – March 7, 2013
Quadrant Engineering Plastic Products, the global leader of machinable plastics, today announced the transfer in manufacturing (exclusive to hex and square rod shapes) of its Quadrant Acetron® GP and Quadrant Nylon 101 materials to Atlas Fibre Company, effective immediately.
Quadrant Engineering Plastic Products announced today that they are transitioning their Nylon 101 and Acetron® GP hex/square rod materials to Atlas Fibre Company. Atlas Fibre is the world's largest manufacturer of turned and precision ground rod, and Bernie Willms, Commercial Director Americas for Quadrant EPP, sees the transition as a strategic advantage to benefit hex and square rod customers. “We believe the partnership with Atlas Fibre, already known for their line of phenolic materials and their precision grinding services, will position everyone involved to best serve the needs of our distributors and end users. Atlas Fibre will continue to supply the same quality product, made from Quadrant Nylon 101 and Quadrant Acetron® GP starting materials, but manufactured and shipped from its Skokie, IL facility.” Quadrant EPP will continue manufacturing Acetron® GP and Nylon 101 round rods, sheets, plates, tubing, and bushing stock.
Quadrant Acetron® GP is a versatile copolymer acetal and is the only porosity-free acetal product available today. It is commonly found in electrical components, gears, and rollers. Of all the unmodified nylons, Quadrant Nylon 101 is the strongest, most rigid and has one of the highest melting points. Quadrant Nylon 101 is often used in railcar, steel, cement, chemical, and grain applications.
According to Atlas Fibre President, Richard Welch, the new offerings will complement the company's precision-ground round rod business. “The addition of the Nylon 101 and Acetron® GP hex and square rod capabilities is an opportunity that will enhance our thermoset rod product offerings. Atlas Fibre is committed to continuing the tradition of excellent service and quality manufacturing that Quadrant has provided its hex and square rod customers,” says Welch.
