TIVAR® Technology

TIVAR® materials have a solid performance record in numerous industries such as: mining industry, filling and packaging industry, general mechanical engineering, chemical industry, paper industry, nuclear industry, medical and electrical applications.

With increased resin development we have seen the performance levels of "standard" grades surpass those that were once classified as performance grades 10 years ago. Increases in molecular weight and cross-linking have attributed to the massive increase in performance in all grades and at all levels.

Quadrant Engineering Plastic Products (QEPP) is the worlds largest manufacturer of UHMWPE and therefore is able to offer a very large range of sheet sizes, thicknesses and grades. Other stock shapes such as rods, tubes and profiles are also available.

MAIN CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Good wear and abrasion resistance;
  • High impact strength even at low temperatures;
  • Excellent chemical resistance;
  • Low coefficient of friction;
  • Excellent release properties;
  • Very low water absorption;
  • Moderate mechanical strength, stiffness and creep resistance;
  • Very good electrical insulating and dielectric properties (except antistatic grades);
  • Physiologically inert (some grades are suitable for food contact).

ULTRALENE

The enhanced coefficient of friction and anti-static properties make ULTRALENE an excellent performer in dusty environments. Even damp boxes or parcels covered in shrink-wrap won't stick to ULTRALENE. In addition, the enhanced surface lubricity won't mar packaging or products, but allow them to move freely without jamming from dirt, grit or static build-up.

APPLICATIONS:

ULTRALENE was specially formulated for the South African bottling industry (components, wearstrips & profiles). General Engineering Components: Gears, bearings, wear plates, support-, tension- and deflecting rollers, scraper blades, piston rings & packings, seals, valves, hammerheads, rope pulleys, chain sprockets, conveyor screws, star wheels and bends, corner tracks, parcel chutes, filter plates, pickers, beater caps, punching plates.


TIVAR® G12

TIVAR® G12 exhibits excellent impact resistance and is used in applications where there is a lot of impact taking place. Wear resistance and sliding capabilities are also considered very good.

APPLICATIONS:

General Engineering Components: Gears, bearings, wear plates, support-, tension- and deflecting rollers, scraper blades, piston rings & packings, seals, valves, hammerheads, rope pulleys, chain sprockets, conveyor screws, star wheels and bends, corner tracks, parcel chutes, filter plates, pickers, beater caps, punching plates etc.


TIVAR® Rubber-Backed

TIVAR® grades exhibit excellent impact resistance and can be used in applications where there is a lot of impact taking place. Wear resistance and sliding capabilities are additional attributes. The addition of the rubber backing results in better impact absorption and thermal expansion and also minimises substrate corrosion. The rubber backing further eliminates fasteners and is easily bonded to a metal substrate with adhesive.

Linings for Coal, Mineral Sands, Cement, Mining, Power-Generation, Food & Agriculture Industries:
1. Silos, Chutes, Bins, Bunkers, Hoppers, Trays;
2. Dump Trucks/Bodies, Semi-trailers, Haulers & Rail wagons.


TIVAR® with NEW Visi-Liner

The VISI-LINER is a unique wear optimised UHMWPE material specially developed for bulk material conveying applications. The top layer, made of modified extremely high molecular weight UHMWPE TIVAR® grades exhibit excellent abrasion resistance. The bottom red layer also made from UHMWPE, indicates to the maintenance crew that the liners have reached the end of their life cycles and require replacement of the complete liner. VISI-LINERS are engineered to withstand harsh field conditions, protect your equipment and handle any kind of bulk material. Can be fitted to any grade of TIVAR®.

APPLICATIONS:

Linings for Coal, Mineral Sands, Cement, Mining, Power-Generation, Food & Agriculture Industries:
1. Silos, Chutes, Bins, Bunkers, Hoppers, Trays;
2. Dump Trucks/Bodies, Semi-trailers, Haulers & Rail wagons.


High Molecular Weight Polyethylene

Polyethylene PE500 plastic sheet (HMWPE) offers increased wear resistance and impact strength compared to HDPE. It is extremely strong with excellent wear resistance due to its low coefficient of friction. It also has excellent chemical resistance, very low moisture absorption and is FDA approved.

MAIN CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Very good electrical insulation;
  • Good chemical resistance and better impact strength than HDPE;
  • Good electrical insulating properties;
  • Temp: up to +75ºC, +90ºC short term.
  • Food Safe.

APPLICATIONS:

Guides, rollers, chopping blocks, wear strips, chain guides, chute linings, buffers, cutting boards, change parts & protection strips etc.

Ultra Wear High Density Polyethylene

Polyethylene PE300 plastic sheet (HDPE) offers excellent sliding properties along with high impact strength and good wear resistance due to its low coefficient of friction. It is lightweight and strong with low moisture absorption. It is also FDA approved and is easy to fabricate and weld.

MAIN CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Good chemical resistance to acids, detergents and hot water;
  • Very good impact strength and excellent wear resistance, even at low temperatures;
  • Low friction coefficient;
  • Temp: up to 75°C, 90°C short term
  • Food Safe.

APPLICATIONS:

Chutes, silos, tanks and hoppers.
